Baby is on the way! Hillsborough, NC

We had the privilege to go to Hillsborough to photograph this maternity session in the home of Brad and Michelle. We have known Michelle since we photographed her in high school and it was nice to reconnect with her. Here are a few of her favorites.

Happy 4th of July + patriotic breakfast

Happy Independance Day!  We started early this morning with a small sunrise wedding - It was lovely. Outside, in the courtyard of the church we were privileged to photograph their ceremony and family.  When we got back home, I thought it would be fun to have a patriotic breakfast of waffles with strawberries, blueberries and bananas.  Later this evening we will go to Waldensian, Trail of Faith in Valdese, to watch to fireworks with some of our family and friends.  I am so thankful to live in a country that is free and gratefully remember those that have fought to protect that freedom.

Sweet 3mth baby boy + Hickory, NC

Love this little baby and his precious smile!  We laughed, as he was so proud to show us his new trick of sticking out his tongue. He is a member of our Baby Plan and we are so looking forward to photographing his first year.

Lorin + High School Senior + Hickory, NC

We had Lorin come in for a few more photographs for her senior coffee table book that we are designing for her.  She loves to read, so we had her bring some of her favorite books and a quilt.  As we were setting up for her photos, Shane captured this image while she was waiting. I so LOVE this photo!  We photographed this is our backyard portrait park, the daylilys are so pretty - I just wished they lasted a little longer.

Strawberry Jam + Good Memories

Heather and I always have a fun time making strawberry jam.  When I was growing up we had a big garden and it seemed like we pulled weeds, picked and canned all summer. Although I don't get to do too much of that anymore - I do have some fun memories of those times we had together as a family. Strawberry jam is our favorite and I always try to make at least one batch.  Shane went to the farmers market on the search for local strawberries (we always try to buy local when we can) and came home with 4 gallons.  Making jam is just one of those traditions that I have tried to pass down - not to mention - it doesn't get much better than fresh strawberry jam on a hot biscuit.

Memorial Day Weekend + Camping

Shane looked at our calender on Thursday and said " Want to go camping this weekend?"  Well, it's been forever since just the two of us have gone away and we had a wonderful, relaxing time at our favorite campground - Timberlake Campground in Whitter, NC.  It is a small campground nestled between the mountains that has 2 ponds for fishing and a creek that will lull you to sleep at night.  On Saturday, we stopped by some fun flea markets and Shane let me go into all the little stores that I wanted to in Bryson City (He's pretty patient like that!) He does a great job grilling over the fire - so we had some delicious steaks and hamburgers!  We came home in time Monday to grill out with the family and catch up with the kids and make sure the house hadn't burned down and all that good stuff. We are truly grateful for all those that have served our country - so we can have times like these to celebrate and count our blessing with our families.

High School Senior + Hickory, NC

We were so excited to take Lorin's photos. She has been a friend of our family for several years now and it has been a joy to watch her grow up.  We had a great time at her session and she even came with some of her own ideas to make her session all about who she is and what she wanted to remember about high school.  I am looking forward to designing a custom coffee table book for her.
